Brennan 37 deg JIC tube fittings are manufactured to SAE J514 and ISO 8434-2, the recognized global standards for flare fittings. These fittings are used in two primary ways: to connect tubing that has been flared to 37 deg with a nut and sleeve, or to mate directly with another JIC fitting of the same size and seat angle. Their versatility and consistent performance have made them one of the most widely applied hydraulic connections. For tube connections, the installer flares the tube end to 37 deg, positions it against the fitting nose, and secures it between the nose and sleeve by tightening the nut. The three-piece design of body, sleeve, and nut forms a compact joint with a small sealing area, which provides low assembly torque and relatively high pressure capability. When two JIC fittings are connected, the seal forms directly between the opposing 37 deg seats without the need for a sleeve and nut. JIC adapters are also used to transition to other port styles, including SAE straight thread O-ring Boss, NPT/NPTF pipe threads, BSPP and BSPT threads, ISO 6149 ports, and metric connections. This adaptability allows JIC fittings to connect tubing, hoses, and ports across a wide range of systems worldwide.
